Man Fires Gun At Walmart Trying To Get Wallet, Gunfire inside the Walmart store at 9301 Forest Lane Monday night injured the weapon’s owner along with a woman and her young daughter. The incident happened around 9:25 p.m. at the store in Northeast Dallas when a customer standing in line to buy milk at the cash register reached into his pocket to get his wallet.
The man, who Dallas Police said has a Concealed Handgun License, accidentally pulled the trigger of his Springfield .40-caliber semi-automatic pistol. It was holstered inside his pants, a sergeant told News 8.
The gun went off and the bullet grazed the CHL carrier’s own leg before it struck the concrete floor. Shards of cement flew into the air and hit at least one woman and her kindergarten-age daughter, police added.
Dallas Fire-Rescue sent two ambulances to the scene to treat the minor injuries. Investigators said none of the victims had life-threatening wounds. The man with the gun was arrested and will be charged with injury to a child and evading arrest because he initially fled after the gun discharged, police said. His name was not immediately available.
