National Cheeseburger day

If you love cheeseburgers, then you have a special day to celebrate.
September 18 is National Cheeseburger Day
You can fire up the grill or go to your favorite restaurant because most restaurants serve cheeseburgers.
What is a cheeseburger?
A cheeseburger is simply a hamburger with cheese. Traditionally, a slice of cheese of any kind is placed on top of a meat patty shortly before the patty is completely cooked which allows the slice of cheese to melt.

Cheeseburgers are commonly served with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, mustard, mayonnaise, or ketchup.

One story claims that the cheeseburger was created in 1924 by a 16-year-old chef named Lionel Sternberger. As the story goes, a homeless man dining at Sternberger's restaurant in Pasadena, California, suggested the addition of a slice of cheese to his hamburger order. Sternberger slapped a slice of cheese on the hamburger which satisfied the man. The idea caught on and was eventually added it to the menu. The rest is history.

There are so many different ways to make cheeseburgers. Rachael Ray is celebrating National Cheeseburger Day by introducing four different cheeseburger recipes.
