There's no hiding the news any longer, however, as Sofia Vergara, 40, who plays the Columbian bombshell was sporting a sizeable prosthetic bump on the LA set of the show today.
The actress was wearing her bump exposed underneath a bra as the cameras rolled at The Grove mall in Hollywood.
Vergara and Rico Rodriguez, who plays her son Manny seemed to caught in an interesting exchange as Gloria realised she'd forgotten her vest, or had seen her shirt pop open.
It could've been a dream sequence, of course.
Sofia and the rest of her costars all got substantial raises to come back for the fourth season after filing a lawsuit against 20th Century FOX Television.
They’ll all make $170,000 per episode, up from their previous salary of $65,000 per episode.
Ed O’Neill actually makes more than the rest of the cast and also got a boost from his former $100,000 per episode paycheck.
Last week Vergara posted a photo to her Twitter page which showed her cuddling up to her on-screen son, played by Rico Rodriguez.
The sweet snap was accompanied by the words: ‘First scene of the season!!! Back in LA for Modern Family!!!’
Rico later shared an image of himself and Sofia posing for a photograph on his own Twitter page.
Meanwhile Eric Stonestreet, who plays Cameron Tucker, tweeted: ‘Im shaved and ready 4 the first day of season 4 of modern family! Grateful 4 my job. Cant wait 2 c everyone! (my face is whats shaved).’
While the gang will no doubt have been delighted to see each other again, they haven’t spent their hiatus entirely apart.
Sofia, Eric and Julie Bowen all showed their support for co-star Jesse Tyler Ferguson this week by watching him perform in a production of The Producers.
