senior citizens day august 21, This lens will celebrate August 21 as National Senior Citizens Day as another Wacky Holiday because, in my opinion, the concept of "Senior Citizen" as a label is somewhat wacky, as well.
Is 'senior citizen' a definition or a state of mind? Do you want to be a "Senior Citizen" today or tomorrow? Let's think about that for a bit as we go through this lens. Certainly, being a senior citizen is better than the alternative (deceased!), right? So, perhaps we all aspire to be senior citizens, and August 21 is "our day" to celebrate.
I've chosen the photo here, of my daughter and myself at a gathering of the Entrada Institute that puts on weekly programs for the community of Torrey, Utah, during the tourist season on a wide variety of interesting subjects. It is not 'for seniors' but many who attend qualify for that 'designation.' It is for people of all ages who want to learn, be entertained, and fulfill a useful place in the world around them. Sounds good to me.
