An offensive tweet from the Twitter account of a prominent Iranian-American author targets Defence Minister Peter MacKay’s Iranian-born wife, who is one of Canada’s leading human rights activists challenging the Islamic regime in Tehran.
The message from the account of Hooman Majd, who has been described as a “sometimes sympathetic communicator” of the Iranian regime’s positions, is linked to a report on a television interview with Nazanin Afshin-Jam. MacKay married the former Miss World Canada at a private ceremony in Mexico in January.
“F—ing a Canadian minister doesn’t make you Canadian, azizam. Come back to papa …” the tweet says.
