Stink bugs:'Stink bug crisis' spreads across United States,The stink bugs that made headline last year made even more outrages headlines. The bugs that invaded the East Coast has now reached a frightening 38 states and the Pacific Coast, prompting Congress to push the Agriculture Department to speed up the search for an assassin of the “brown marmorated stink bug,” Washington Examiner reported.

Oregon State University researchers reported June 13 that they have found the pest in the cities of Hood River and Phoenix.

The pest, which damages crops by feeding on fruit, foliage and even trunks of thin-skinned ornamentals, is hard to kill, scientists say, and has disrupted integrated pest management programs in the mid-Atlantic states.

Meanwhile, stink bugs have disappeared in some Western Pennsylvania areas, which researchers believe is caused by weather. Atypical weather patterns, such as tropical storms and heat waves, disrupt the stink bug’s breeding. The expected high temperatures could help to keep the population under control.
