R Kelly divorce The Notebook

R Kelly divorce The Notebook,Some Ryan Gosling fans might argue that the 2004 film "The Notebook" is one of the greatest love stories ever told, but R. Kelly claims it ruined his marriage, reports TMZ.

The singer finalized his divorce from his wife of 12 years, Andrea Lee Kelly, in 2009, but in his new memoir "Soulacoaster: The Diary of Me," Kelly reveals that the romantic film made him realize his marriage wasn't meant to last.

"As the film credits started to roll, I couldn't move. I burst into tears. People walking past me patted me on the back, trying to console me. 'The Notebook' was beautiful, and I was crying because its hero and heroine had died together," the 45-year-old writes in the memoir. "But I was also crying because I remembered a Valentine's Day -- when a helicopter dropped a rainfall of roses -- that had come and gone ... My marriage had died. And there was nothing I could do to bring it back."

The couple first met in 1994 when Andrea auditioned as a backup dancer for Kelly. They married in 1996 and had three children over the course of their 12-year marriage. Though "The Notebook" may have helped inspire Kelly, the couple's relationship suffered from far more than just fizzled romance.

According to MTV News, the singer writes that Andrea wasn't happy with having to put her dance career on hold to be a stay-at-home mom. And there are far more-serious claims of domestic violence.

In 2005, Andrea filed an emergency protective order to keep the singer away from her due to claims of physical abuse, though she revoked the order just weeks later. The couple then filed for divorce in 2006, but were still trying to make things work, reports People magazine.
